Thank you, someone else is finally realizing that too!I have a stream, mostly because my tech assessment didn't even know what a book port was.
My department (the people who orriginally loaned me the book port) told me I could keep it, since they were using vr streams. Though I think I showed them what areas the book port was superior in.
The book port, as the braille lite did before it, will be a hard peace of technology to get out of my life. Sure, the stream and pac mate are newer; the pac mate crashes a lot more and the stream is needing to be recharged.
People say the bp is too thick. I tell them they're full of crap.I hope aph comes out with an excellent product again that blows humanware and gw micro out of the water, again. Snickers.

You go!! I agree %100. I hate being tied to a wall outlet, and trying to read at night and keeping the unit plugged in at the same time, what a hassle. I love the freedom of being able to use batteries that I can pick up anywhere, if I need to. The bookport will be a tough act to follow. The recording isn't the best, but I can always pick up a digital recorder, if I need it for more extensive use. I wish APH would either start supporting it again, or come out with something comparable. If they do, I hope they don't follow Victor ReaderStream, and other like equipment by having a rechargeable battery that keepsus tied to the outlet. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Monica Willyard Sent: Thursday, August 20, 2009 2:28 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Bookport II? Rick and Gary, very well said. I just got a second Book Port to use as aback-up when my main unit goes. Like others here, I have another device, but ours is an uncomfortable relationship at best. For me, it's the long batterylife and the powerful navigation levels that matter most. I don't want a rechargeable gadget that I have to remember to plug in every night. I liketo read at night and would find it to be very restricting if I couldn't usemy unit because it has to recharge. Road trips are great with a Book Portsince you can get batteries for it almost anywhere. I keep an extra pair in my fanny pack all the time. With another device, I'd need to take somethingalong to keep the unit charged. The Book Port is a tough act for anyone to follow.
