Tyler, I recently bought a Sony personal CD player from Musician's Friend
which plays MP3's and other things, and it has similar battery life as well
as the option to connect extra batteries externally. I read through the
list of Sony's available machines, and most of their personal CD players and
several other devices have these features. In a word, such features seem to
be the norm with current Sony players rather than the exception. By the
way, since you haven't made your purchase yet, let me say that I create my
own playlists of MP3's, copy them to CD's, or occasionally just transfer a
dozen or so pre-recorded CD's which I previously converted to MP3's, onto a
blank CD and play them on my new personal CD player. It's anti-shock
mechanism is so great that you can exercise or do anything else without
experiencing a skip. Obviously there are advantages to having a dedicated
MP3 player, but this might give you something to think about also, since it
will also play standard CD's.
I should have made this message a personal reply instead of posting it on
the list. Sorry, folks. It's been a long, busy day and I'm too tired to
think properly. Will try to refrain from posting things like this, though
because they're tedious to read through unless the subject being discussed
happens to be of interest to you. Sorry, truly.

my appologies. Yes what model is that? I have been looking all over for one, and also its not surprising, sony has done nothing but awe me (which is good), and I have always loved there survice. I'll e-mail you off-list with more questions I have because it is really off-topic here. I guess it would be nice with the book port when somebody is traveling and staying at hotels or even in a car...it could be one of those adapters that can be used universally (any AC adapter) which would minimize the cost of the production, wouldn't it? And also, are enegizer batteries any good with the BP? (How many hours do they get?) This is with regulars, not rechargeable.
Thanks
Tyler

My Sony minidisk has standard AA batteries which get 50 hours on a single
battery, and it still has a power adapter with recharging capabilities.
Further It has an attachable battery holder to hold an additional 2
batteries. That means if you load it up with 3 batteries, you get over 160
hours of power with standard Duracell alkaline batteries. Even more with the
Duracell ultra! according to the manual.
No battery pack in that, setup, and it still has an AC adapter.

that's it. A battery pack. That comes with most mp3 players because all they
get is around 18 to 24 hours of playback. Bookport has 40-60.

Wouldn't that be nice, go for a long drive with a friend, and use their power port and not your batteries?

Hello,
Have to agree there, just my opinion, plugging in the book port seems to me to defeat the purpose. As for rechargeable batteries, I just bought a charger for double A batteries that will charge them independently without any use of the book port.

Hi Richard and list:
I only know portability was one of the main reasons I own one. The last thing I want is another AC adapter to keep track of, not to mention convert from 110 to 240 Volts, etc.
Cheers, Dave
