do you mind sending me the URL for that program? And, is it free? I do'nt have a credit card so I'll be in trouble if it's not. I could *really* use it. The only thing it wouldn't work on is those files with encrypted fonts...

However, there are programs that will remove the security on PDF files that
keep them from being saved as plain text. I've used a program called
Advanced PDF Password Recovery (APDFPR) for several years and haven't found
a PDF file yet that it wouldn't unlock. I know there are others available,
as well.

The problem really isn't copyrighted material as much as a decision by the
author or owner of the material to not permit it to be saved as text. There are valid reasons for doing this--a company that doesn't want its literature
modified and then circulated might do this, for example.

I have always had success with this built in utility in Adobe
Acrobat.  Some PDF documents have copyright protection, and this is
where you might have trouble.
