Hi All,
I am currently enjoying a wireless set of headphones with my Book
Port and thought that others may benefit from a description of
them.
The head phones are Bluetooth and are made by Logitechspecifically
for the Apple iPod. The headphones are the type that fit overthe
ears and the band goes behind the neck. The headphones are notclosed
so they do not significantly block out outside noise.
They come with a Bluetooth transmitter that is roughly the sizeof a
compact flash storage box. It is actually a bit thicker thanthat but
not a lot. The transmitter was designed to snap on the end of anphone
iPod. It has a male mini phone plug that plugs in to the ear
jack on the iPod when it snapps in place.
In addition, a six inch or so cable is part of the package. Thisjack on
cable has a female mini phone jack on one end and a male mini
the other. So, one can use this cable and plug the transmitterin to
any mp3 player. This works great with the Book Port. I also usethem
with my BrailleNote and pc. I find that I like to put the BookPort
on my belt and stick the little transmitter in my pocket. Thisreally
works well and it is so nice to be free from the headphone cable.
The transmitter will only work with the headphones that it shipswith
with. In other words, you cannot use other bluetooth headsets
the transmitter. The headphones have a volume control on themand it
does change the volume of the headphones so you can easily adjustthe
Book Port volume from the headphones. The sound quality is verygood.
I would say not quite as good as the Sennheiser PX100 headphonesbut
not bad at all. The system comes with a battery charger whichallows
one to charge both the battery in the headset and the battery inthe
transmitter at the same time. As far as I know, the batteriesare not
user replaceable. I haven't had them long enough to have testedit,
but you are suppose to get about 8 hours of continuous use
between charges.
These Logitech Bluetooth headphones for the Apple iPod areavailable
from Amazon for $94 with a $50 mail in rebate which goes back to
Logitech.
