Most Bible trnaslations of the Bible courier do come with some additional reference material on it.

I gathered from the origianl post that the top priority was ease of navigation of the Bible itself. It is true that a Pastor - and really any serious Bible scholar - also needs to be able to access reference materials. However, most of us do not carry around a reference library. An this is just the point i was trying to make. If the purpose is to give the prospective Blind pastor an equal means to access the Bible itself like his sighted peer in church or a Bible study do, then I hthink the bible courier is the way to go. It is made to be just that, an accessible easy to use Bible. If on the other hand the intent is to give the prospective pastor access to multiple Bible translations and a reference library, then a portable reading device like the bookport or some accessible pda or better still a lightweight noteobok computer with a fullfledged Bible software package and screenreawder is the way to go IMO.

The bookport would work to read the Bible like a book at a time and i know it is able to remember multiple bookmarks but it is not designed for easy and quick Bible navigation. That is why the Bookport/book Courier and the Bible Courier are two different devices even though the underlying hardware is the same.

Rufus,

I imagine that a pastor has to read other things besides the Bible, at least, that is how it is in the USA. Therefore, he might also want to get Book Port which will allow him to read electronic and/or auditory theological and Biblical material.

What you want is probably a Bible Courier. This is the same hardware
basically as the Bookport and Book Courier but specialized for Bible
Access. it is available for US$75.00 plus shipping from

AS you will see, this is much cheaper than the Bookport. TWhere the
BP is a genral reading device for multiple e-text and audio book
formats, the BBible Courier is a talking Bible exclusively. It comes
preloaded with the Bible translation of your choice (about 10
different versions to choose from) and does allow Book, Chapter and
verse navigation. This is audio only and talks with the Doubletalk
TTS chip. It allows spelling of words and adjustment of voice, volume
and speech rate.

I have had my Bible Courier for half a year and really love it.

I do agree that a portable Braille device would be preferable but
they are out of reach of most of us.
