Thanks for chiming in. It just seems odd that I've been using these
batteries without much problem until 2.03. The gage would get down to around
20 percent before the unit would complain. Now, the only way I can get below
50 percent is to suspend reading of audio, and even then I can't get below
around 40 percent. Most peculiar!

I don't get quite the high battery life Nolan gets, but using 2.3 I don't
have the problems Dave is having at all. I'm playing more mp3 files these
days than I was before so can't make a total comparison, but I'm sure my
battery life hasn't deteriorated in 2.3. I agree that the problem is
likely
the batteries.
