Hi Pamela and list:

To add to the volume of knowledge on this thread, the USB cable that is supplied with the Humanware Brailliant (Also known as the Supervario) will also suffice. I use the cables interchangibly all the time.

Cheers,
Dave

No, APH doesn't sell the cables. You can get them where digital cameras
are sold. Also, the same cable that is used for the Pac Mate will also
work.

You will need to buy your book port cables from APH.

Pamela:

In order to plug the USB directly into my computer, I need a longer
cable.
My sighted husband was going to look for one and discovered that the
"b"connector has no pins. The BookPort receptacle has places for
five
pins.. Is this correct?

Advice, please.

Many thanks for your help.

Fran

Fran:

Try a direct connection--lose the hub.

I'm a new user and have just tried to use the BP Transfer to download
a
file
to my unit.

The USB cable is plugged into my USB hub but when I insert the cable
into
my
unit BP Transfer does not open on my computer as the manual says it
will.
If
I open BP Transfer by clicking on its icon, I hear a "buzz" and the
screen
tells me that the unit is not connected. Other peripherals connected
to
the
USB hub are runhing just fine. And the unit works okay in the Read
mode
with
just the headphones plugged in.

Should I have the headphones connected at the time I do the above?
Does it
matter that I have a screen reader (Window Eyes) running?

I am using Windows XP Pro.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Fran
