As one of the complaining bugs, I apologize. I'm just impatient. When I learn of another product out there, I get anxious; even though I expect that waiting will be worth it. It's just that I want to start downloading those NLS books, but will stop griping for now. ----- Original Message ----- From: "PAMELA RADER" <PRADER@xxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 11, 2007 11:31 AM Subject: [bookport] Re: Anything New > OK, I've been silent, but now, I must speak. > > True. I think too often, we speak too prematurely about these things--way before we should; not taking into account problems that may arise. I think certain individuals mean well, but tend to be overzelous with their timelines. If it were up to me, I never would have gone on that program and said all of that. That is one of the annoyances I continually have to deal with in my job. I think Larry blieves he can do those things in his mind, however, it has to come forward and come into being. It might be better to say, "we'd like it to be in this timeframe, or we hope it'll be in a given time, but it has to be worked out." As you might imagine, I see both sides. There's advantages in talking and not talking. > > With that said, in our defense, I'd also like to say that whenever you all ask if there's anything new and I say, "No," or that things have been pushed back to a later date, that is essentially what I am saying that we have run into some glitches--why else would you not meet your deadline. > As for what the glitches are, I'm not at liberty to say--even if I knew. > > This issue comes up at least once a week on this list alone and every time, I have answered as honestly as I can! I truly don't know what more I can say! As stated before, although we are guilty of talking too soon, you will not find any documentation or other information listed on our site until the product is ready (that's one thing we do right). Afterall, if we did, we would still be criticized, just as we are now! Believe me, I'm as anxious as you are for the thing to come out, so that I can talk about what is and not about what isn't. However, I can assure you that as soon as I know when the testing will begin or have something I can speak of, rest assured--I'll do it! The last I heard was that Book Port 2 will be ready in November (Early or Late, I don't know; they didn't say). So, that means one of two things: Either it will, in fact, come out in November, with very little time for us to test (much to my chagrin), or it won't come out in November, but'll be pus > hed back to the first of the year, which is what I've been saying, just because I've worked here long enough to know how these things usually go down. Again, that's my guess as to when it'll be released. However, I've been wrong before. That's why I frowned, when I listened to the Main Menu show and heard those dates mentioned. There's more I can say, but I've said too much already! > > > > Pamela Rader, TECHNICAL SUPPORT > American Printing House For The Blind > 1839 Frankfort Ave. > Louisville, KY 40206 > > PHONE: 1-800-223-1839, Ext. 307 > > > >>> sseric57@xxxxxxxxx 09/11/07 12:35PM >>> > The mistake is not following up with simple: "We've had another glitch (not > necessarily specified)."
