[bookport] A bug or an anomaly?

Hi, group.
I took my Bookport with me for twelve days over Christmas. Twice I forgot to
lock it, but it was in a secure spot. When I came back to it, it said "No
files." I took the flash memory out and replaced it, and had my files back.
Is this standard? What should I have done? Would reset have worked?
