Grant,

Try giving the Book Port more time to format the card.  That worked for my
4GB card.  When I inserted the card, I heard nothing.  I pressed the format
key cord, and after 30 seconds or more, the Book Port announced some message
about format complete or firmware version.  Give the Book Port 30 seconds or
so between when you insert the card and when you start the format.
