No. You format a flashcard using the Bookport by pressing the corner keys, 1, 3, D and F. Be sure to have your headphones on and listen to the prompts. In order to format the flashcard on the computer, you must have a card reader.

I understand that if I buy a flashcard
I put it in the bp
I connect the bp to the computer
and the bp formats the card automatically.
Am I correct?

Are you saying, every time you get a new flash card you should format
the card before using it?

Hello:

If you have a 2 gig card, then when you format it with the Book
Port,
it should format to FAT 16, not 32. So, if it formatted at 16, then
the
Book Port did it correctly. Only the 4 gig cards are formatted at
FAT
32. We have seen some brands that don't format correctly and are
currently working on that bug.

The manual will be placed back on the card, once you connect to the
PC
with that card.

Hello:

I have obtained a 2 GB CF card. When I put it into the Bookport,
and
format the card, it doesn't put the help file on the system. Also,
it
formats as FAT32. What should I do to get the card to work properly.
I
have formatted as fat and FAT32 using a card reader. I have also
tried
formatting on the Bookport. I am running firmware version 2.2.0.1.
Please help with any ideas. Thanks.
