Jean comes from privilege; Tam lives in the worst part of town, his family,
which consists of himself, his addict mother, and his disabled younger brother,
squatting in a ruinous apartment. But the two of them must work together if
Jean is to be free of the power of the Faery Queen in the virtual reality game
her father's company is preparing to release. Jean and Tam realize that this
particular game isn't exactly one's usual computer game, for those who play can
lose--for keeps!
An interesting story based on the Celtic legend of Tamlin. Unfortunately, the
author is nowhere as good a writer as Dianna Wynn Jones or Eoin Colfer, and not
even as good as Riordan, all of whom have made writing stories based on myths
and legends into an art form. I read it on my Nook, so it is available in
accessible media at least as an e-book.
