I rarely post to this list, but I read it all the time. The above petition
is important to me as before the Barred owls moved in, we heard an
occasional spotty.
Living in Coos county I see gross mismanagement of our forest lands: trees
planted 3-5 feet apart in the sevin devils/south slough area, growing tall
and skinny with nothing but a tuft of a crown. So of course logging
companies want new forest to cut. I live on 11 acres which I had
commercially thinned many years ago and haven't had done since, as I the
company that did the work apparently retired, and no one else seems willing
to do the work. So my forest will remain a patch of large healthy trees
among many much smaller trees
