The posting about LSNA and shooters made me think....
I recently happened to take note of a vehicle already parked at a park entrance
in Salem when I entered it. Noting the plate # and general description of the
vehicle turned out to be useful a bit later as later the person who owned the
car became agitated and tried to threaten me with personal violence in the
park. Police were able to find the person via the licence plate #, description
of vehicle and person and have a warning conversation with them at their home.
I am relaying this story as a potential bit of advice to those of us who like
to visit public natural areas -- sometimes alone. Given the climate of
everything goes on public land these days, it might be advisable to be more
observant than we used to be of vehicles in the parking lot before we head out,
noting the vehicle description and plate #, etc. Sorry that this seems to be
needed these days.
