Not even really from New Mexico, and not clear that he has any history
of ranching.
A quick internet search shows that this alleged "rancher" just moved to
Silver City, New Mexico from Muenster, Texas and registered the "Bear
Mountain Cattle Company" in March 2013 (principals listed as Adrian
Sewell and Courtney Sewell).
Seemingly he had the idea that buying 160 acres would give him
unfettered access to 30,000+ acres of the Gila National Forest, to run
as many cattle as he liked.
All of us should be calling journalists and their editors/publishers to
ask why they continue to give headlines to these contrived little
dress-up-and-play-cowboy events that the Bundy camp keeps staging. This
one was about as newsworthy as if I were to stand on a stool in my
driveway, and announce plans to graze our sheep on the local state
wildlife area.
Where are the stories about the displaced federal employees, the Burns
Paiute, and others who've been impacted? There should be ten stories on
them for every one on the Bundy gang at this point.
