Virtual visit to Golden Eagles, with Hawk Watch International?

Hi Linda,

It is a bit ironic that one of the things uniting most of us this year are
routine changes to safely maintain distance from one another. In a typical
year, I’d be inviting you out to a nest box to monitor or band nestling
kestrels, a nighttime visit to an owl territory followed by a daylight
visit to map tree hollows, a migration site for a day of hawkwatching, or
to join us for a field trip. Pausing these activities helps to keep your
family and ours safe, but I, and all of the HWI staff, miss spending time
in the field with you and the raptors we share such passion for.

*One opportunity you (and most people) likely haven’t experienced is a
visit to a Golden Eagle’s nest.* It’s not that we don’t want you to join
us. It’s simply that these excursions are physically demanding, delicate,
and difficult to schedule. So it’s not something we can offer to everyone.

That is until a global pandemic intervened and folks like Eric Chabot, one
of our talented research biologists, got creative.

So today, *I’m excited to invite you into the field with Eric and the rest
of the team to experience Golden Eagles—from the comfort of your own
home.* *Want
to join us?*

Consider this a HWI-twist on “Cyber Monday.” The only difference is that
instead of me asking you to buy something, I’m giving you an opportunity
for the virtual trip of a lifetime.

*Click here to join us.

I know this isn’t the same as physically being in the field with us, or the
eagles. For one thing, the technology wouldn’t allow Eric to share the
unique smells of an eagle nest to your screen.  Even so, I hope it serves
as a bit of an escape and also a reminder of all the good you did for
raptors this year, Linda.

Thanks again for helping conserve these incredible birds.

Dave
