A breakthrough for the Owyhee
Dear Linda,
It's an exciting moment for Oregonians and all Americans who love our
public lands.
By working together, Senator Wyden, the Burns Paiute Tribe, local ranchers,
conservation groups and other diverse stakeholders throughout Oregon have
crafted solutions to restore and safeguard Malheur County’s public lands
including Oregon’s Owyhee Canyonlands – while also preserving and improving
current uses. Together, we’ve achieved what many thought was
impossible: Oregon's
senators have just introduced legislation that could protect over 1 million
acres of public land for future generations

This ensures the area’s vast, intact fish and wildlife habitat, clean, wild
waters, numerous cultural sites, dark night skies and exceptional
opportunities for recreation and solitude will be safeguarded forever.

A high degree of stability and certainty for the land - and for livelihoods
