Hi all,

I just received an "action alert" from a forest conservation advocacy
group regarding the Blue Mountains Forest Resiliency Project, which is a
proposal for "forest restoration and fuels reduction" that would include
thinning and prescribed burns projects on what amounts to about 1000
square miles of the Ochoco, Umatilla, and Wallowa-Whitman National
Forests in NE Oregon.

Here's the announcement from the Federal Register:

https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2016/02/05/2016-02269/ochoco-umatilla-wallowa-whitman-national-forests-oregon-and-washington-blue-mountains-forest

The deadline for comments is April 5th.

The "action alert" pointed to the following document that gives a list
of concerns and comments on the proposal:

https://bluemtnsbiodiversity.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/forest-resiliency-project-action-alert2.pdf

but I'd be interested to hear other points of view.

Thanks,
Joel

P.S. For birders who are more county-oriented, this proposal concerns
National Forest lands in Crook, Wheeler, eastern Jefferson, northern
Harney, northern Malheur, southern Morrow, and everything from there to
the NE corner of the state (Grant, Baker, Umatilla, Union, and Wallowa).
