[boo] Another Nevada lithium mine threatens only known population of rare native buckwheat plant

On first glance I thought this might be related to the proposed lithium mine 
near McDermitt, but it turns out to be another one farther south in Nevada, 
near Dyer.

The closing paragraph really caught my attention: 

"Perhaps, [Naomi Fraga] speculated, the plant has a natural cycle that we don’t 
yet comprehend. A single buckwheat can live for centuries. Our human eyes have 
beheld this species for such a brief time. Who are we to say how resilient it 
is?"
