For the official record, it has been exactly a year and a day since the first
canceled game night. If we had a game to play based on the Arthurian legend it
might be appropriate, but I will defer to those who have already volunteered
games 🙂
I would be interested in gaming, assuming the married version of myself won't
have any trouble getting away. If any of you guys have unused expired kitchen
passes from over the years, please feel free to bring them so I can collect
them. I should be able to get by on those for a while...
Barring unforeseen things, I will have gotten at least one shot by then, and
even if I have, I can probably assume that I will not have been through the
waiting period for full effectiveness, but I don't feel the need to wait for
that point to come back if I have already gotten a shot. I'll be the first
person to say my thoughts are that I personally will still prefer to wear a
mask for a while (even in gatherings where everyone is shot up), at least until
we have some confirmation that we are all truly safe and that asymptomatic
transmission is not possible through people with the vaccine. The main concern
I have here is that since my fiancée's kids are younger, it will be a while
before the whole family gets vaccinated so I will just want to be sure before
we go back to the full plugs-out version of gaming. The group seems flexible
to all of this but that's my two cents - I have a feeling I may be the least
vaccinated person in the room whenever we get going again.

Subject: [bn-citw] Thursday Gaming commences May 13th
I can't tell you how long I've waited to send out this email. (1)
Mr. Wirsing and I have been in some discussions and have fixed May 13 as being
Der Tag.
That date is far enough out that a fair number of us will have received our 2nd
shot (plus waiting period), yet close enough to not induce despair of ever
meeting again. As additional gamers get immunized, our numbers should quickly
grow.
The games will almost certainly be held in the traditional bunker space. Not
outside (a glance outside right now [5:58pm Saturday] will tell you why), nor
in the garage.
Beyond those two points (the When and the Where), there is little additional
information. We thought that deciding a date was the biggest thing to get our
group going. The question of "precautions" has not yet been addressed. For
some of you (those fully immunized with fully immunized familes) this will not
be a concern. We wish to be sensitive to the concerns of those (maybe half?)
who will not yet fall into that category. We shall cooperate, as they say.
The other big question is what we'd be playing. My guess is that we'd have a
smallish turnout. But, given the hordes that descended upon Tom's place just
to move a hot tub, maybe not. The need to socialize is almost palpable.
What we (I) ask of you is this -
1) Respond to this thread with your level of interest for May 13th
2) Let me know if you will have a game ready to go by that date
3) Precautionary comments/questions/concerns
For #3, if you'd prefer to not broadcast your thoughts, please contact Tom or
myself privately. We are not a group that enjoys excluding people and I think
I speak for all when I say we'll try to work with whatever needs to be done to
make people comfortable.
I very much look forward to seeing all of you -

(1) Completely untrue. A simple calendar combined with advanced computational
theory would allow me to tell you EXACTLY how long. But I refuse.
