Here’s the way the story has developed in the last few days.
I have prepaid a 2-queen room at the Hilton across the street from the
convention center. Tom and I have committed. It’s too late to commit
whenever that room becomes full. So first come, first serve. That’s the
answer to your question.
Actually, if the room fills, you would just be on your own to find a room.
Determining when the room is full depends on a few factors, like BYO cot,
agreement on penalties for “spooning”, etc.
Background:
Rooms at the convention hotel are 149 a night (174 after taxes! Not cheap), and
the hotel chooses whether the room is a single king or a 2 bed double. Not
acceptable. There are no 2 bed queens at the convention rate. Might be at
the regular rate. But that’s $200+.
Comparatively , the Hilton is $146 and change per night, taxes included, if
prepaid.
The next closest hotel, beyond the Hilton, is more than a mile away … too far
to walk. That’s an issue if the plan involves dropping guys at the convention
center, then leaving with the car for a day of battlefield tramping –
convention attendees ae marooned. Bottom line – hotels are an issue and I
expect the Hilton, the one good option, will fill. So booking another hotel
room closer to the con could be dicey if someone wants to do that.
Does that raise the level of confusion adequately?

Tim,
I'm interested in going. I need to check with our family schedule to make sure
there is nothing scheduled. When do I need a yes or no response by?

Two of us are interested I attending Nashcon this year, Aug 23-25. It
sounds like this is a steadily growing historical convention – about 100 games
last year, attended by a number of the guys and vendors we see out East.
Anyone interested? Leaving Thu, Aug 22, returning Sun, Aug 25. There are
several battle fields nearby. But it’s AUGUST in Tennessee! (HOT!)
Speaking for myself, I can’t make it to an HMGS-East Con this year, and I need
something to fill the void. Plus, it’s only a 6.5 hour drive instead of 13.5
hours. That doesn’t hurt.
Hotel reservations will be happening soon. So give a holler if you are
interested. https://www.nashcon.org/ ;
