Please find attached a first pass attempt at a budget for next year. This
will be discussed at the February BMC. Any comments or changes ahead of
that meeting would be welcome.
There are a couple of points I think which are worth making:
1. There is an item on last years budget called building
insurance. We dont have any building insurance to my knowledge. We need
to consider whether we need this and then how we go about obtaining a quote
for the same. John has indicated it is difficult mainly due to the
information the insurer wants. However if we lose a building we lose a
significant income stream, as we have seen in the Grimley where the repair
bill looks like being around £1000 and we were down a couple of bookings at
a quiet time of the year. (Whether we could claim for the efforts of vermin
I dont know.)
2. We budgeted for an Investment Spend of £20K and seem to have
spent only £5K. Is that because we just dont have the man power to project
things, or were we un-ambitious?
3. Ive only inflated the utility prices by 5%. Wholesale gas
prices are up more than 10% this year.
4. The long term development plans are only my first thoughts, to
at least start us thinking what we might realistically achieve in a little
time. Any other inputs would be greatly appreciated.
5. Ive put in a value for the lease on the woodland. The first
year is £2000 plus legal expenses which Im guessing at £500. This of
course assumes we make progress to getting the lease sorted out.
