Hi List,
It's Carl de Campos here, I've just joined this list, so I just want to
briefly introduce myself, and hereby also offer my assistance where
possible around blindness daily living, assistive technology and computers
where possible. I'm not an expert in these areas, but use the stuff
daily.
I work currently as a sql database administrator for Business Connection,
supporting previously De Beers, and now recently to be joining the support
team on the Edcon account, but remotely.
I use a vpn link to the client's network and use regular microsoft sql
tools to perform my admin tasks. Of course there's always accessibility
challenges and screen readers with many company applications, but I try
and work around those issues in the most jaws friendly way possible.
I live just south of Joburg, in the Midvaal region, in a very quiet plot
suburb called Drum Blade, sort of towards Walkerville way. I rent a small
cottage on a plot and own my own horse and participate in endurance
riding.
My other interests are nature, fitness, music, electronics and accessible
gadgets, motoring - cars, trucks and trains, reading audio books, and
surfing the internet.
I will try and contribute to this list where ever possible, and hope to
add value in some sort of way.
