We are about the same age. I also did work in electronics but had to give that up. I am now an adaptive technologist. I teach blind vvets to use computers. I first learned that blind folks could use woodworking equipment in 1986, at the Hines VA Blind center. Ten years later I started getting more involved with woodworking.
