SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR
SALARY: R89 436.00 p.a. T5
Job Purpose: To operate the Breede Valley Municipality's switchboard and
provide effective
communications.
Duties: To serve as a link between the public and the various line
departments of the Breede Valley
Municipality; Ensure an effective switchboard service to the public and
officials; Arranging for the
installation of new internal and external lines; Liaising with service
providers for the repair/replacement
of faulty telephones or telephone extension lines; Informing the supervisor
immediately of any damage
to the switchboard equipment; Adhering to Health and Safety regulations as
set out in the related
Council Policy; Administer the Switchboard's own records according to agreed
procedures.
Requirements: Grade 12; Computer literate (Ms Word/Excel); Attention to
detail; Ability to work
independently; Good public communication skills; Negotiating and Conflict
Management skills; Two of
the official languages of the Western Cape; Good typing skills and telephone
etiquette.
Experience: 6 months relevant experience
