I recorded streams two sundays in a row; one played perfectly with no break ups in a four hour program and the other preserved all of the breaks. What happened? Was the difference in the condition of the internet?

I am recording a music stream from WUMB folk radio.  The default is after
converting leave as is.  Which is better quality on a DSL connection,
leave as is or 128 k?  I want to potentially keep these recordings.
