[blindpoker] Re: update blind poker

Why does Pokeralb constantly need to change the seating and look of
the table?  What is the point of that?  Is it purely aesthetic, or is
there a genuine need to do it?

On 5/2/21, Nenadinjo Bire <nbiresev@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:

Pokeralb buys software from company called runyourpokersite which sells
software to many poker sites in the world.
Software company makes updates quite often, from time to time they change
the look of the table. this time they changed the seats positions. They
don't even know that pokeralb has 5 visually impaired players, and if they
would know i don't think that they would keep the look of the tables
identical over time, as they have thousands of players on different poker
sites.

Yes i am sure that still many people who might be interested in playing
poker still didn't hear about this app. We contacted communities who have
many contacts of visually impaired, but they didn't want to share within
community about poker site, most just ignored Kurt. Spreading a word likely
also requires huge investments in the marketing which i don't have, but i
don't even know how would marketing work for visually impaired.
I guess that other developers were just gone because they had a vision that
thousands of visually impaired people will start to play poker but as they
saw that interest is very low, they quit, similar as i did. The reason why
it is difficult to spread the word about this app is that
poker is in general not morally accepted in most countries, it is
considered unmoral, and most people don't understand that playing poker
could be also fun, even though some people get in financial troubles.

If you guys wish to do marketing, you are welcome. if you would be bringing
new players, i would be glad to adjust blind poker app again, and invest
time in this.

I did not say anything about discrimination; I believe that comment
was made by James.  I believe he was referring to Pokeralb not making
sure that their updated software would work, even though they know
that blind people use their site.  He was not referring to you at all.
I believe that the reason for the low interest from the blind
community is due to a couple of things.  First, some years ago we had
another developer create an accessible poker app for us, and they
didn't follow through.  They bailed after only a few months.  And they
bailed without a word.  They were just gone.  We've never really had a
developer to stay with us for the long haul.  Secondly, even though
there is a site for the blind poker app, it might be that there still
is a large number of blind people that have not heard of blind poker,
and may not realize that this is even possible.

James, i have worked on blind poker app for one year. Kurt has

people
but still it very low interest in poker.
People even have a chance to win money without doing deposits if
playing
only freerolls. The big issue was also that none of the big sites
wanted
to
make blind poker app eligible, i contacted all big sites to allow blind
poker app on their site, most of them ignored me, few said it would be
against their terms and conditions for some reason. Me and Kurt really
tried everything, and after contacting
so many communities, forums, within 6 months not even 1 person
registered.
Nearly all that played were from your previous poker group, and some of
you
brought few your friends.

and we were going to lose the ability to play.  I think part of
the

a developer has worked on an accessible poker application.  But
every
time a developer does something with poker for us, they eventually

Hi nemad
It is a real shame that you cannot work on the application for
us,
because
for those of us who do play it is very enjoyable, and it could
take
off
for
you in the future as more and more people get to know about it.

I know a computer person who may be willing to upkeep the
facility
for
blind people to play on that poker site, but you would have to
disclose
all
your coding work et cetera, so if you are happy to pass on to
us,
then
maybe there is an option that we could explore, what do you
think
and
what
about if we paid you to do it for us so it does become worth
your
while!
Let me know your thoughts please kind regards James

I figured that this would happen.  I suspect that once again
Pokeralb
updated their software, and in so doing they made it so that
Blind
Poker can't read the table correctly.  This is why I am much
more
a
fan of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach.
Needlessly
updating software every few months to change aesthetics and

stable,
leave it be.
