Bookshare launches horror book club

Kes: As I begin to contemplate relaunching our own local book club and try to 
persuade my fellow members to do a little seasonal reading...

Event: Horror Genre Book Club To Be Launched October 9, 2007

What do you envision when presented with the word horror? Now, let's be a
bit more specific. What comes to mind when you hear the phrase horror
fiction? Many will think of Stephen King and Anne Rice. Others will picture
Dracula or Frankenstein. Perhaps the tales of Edgar Allan Poe will be the
response. No answer is more or less appropriate than any other, thus
revealing one of the beauties of the horror genre: Horror is in the mind of
the beholder, or in this case, the reader. Horror can be culled from a
multitude of books, including many which would clearly seem to fall outside
of the boundaries of horror fiction. A family saga, containing all the
tragedy that everyday life has to offer, will provide as much horror content
for one reader as a novel penned by a longtime horror author will for the
die-hard horror aficionado. Yet, the horror genre is often misunderstood, or
simply overlooked by many readers.

Come join the horror book club if you dare, where we will discuss everything
from the identity of horror in all its literary forms, to lesser known
authors in an often misinterpreted field of fiction. During our first
meeting, we will decide upon our initial reading selection, as well as dates
and times for subsequent meetings. If you have any questions, suggestions,

All programs are open to everyone worldwide. There is no membership
requirement, no direct cost, and no need to register. . No password is
required. All you need is a PC running
Windows 2000 or later, an Internet connection, a sound card, and speakers.
(Mac and Linux access coming soon.) A
microphone will be needed to allow you to interact audibly with the
presenter and each other. If, however, you do not have a microphone, text
chatting will be allowed.

If you are a first-time user of the Talking Communities online conferencing
software, there is a small, safe software program that you need to download
and run. A link to the software is available on the Friends community rooms
entry screen..

Don't hesitate to invite all your friends. Seating is unlimited and All
events are FREE! Also, stop by the community room anytime to visit with
friends, get personalized training on book scanning, submission and
validating
get immediate answers to Bookshare issues, or just hang out with friends.
