Hello blind hams operators
Thought i would introduce myself. I am a visually and physically disabled
amateur radio operator. I have a general license. I live in Washington state. I
dont have my hf transceiver yet so my long range system is not up but soon. I
am assembling a QRP DC/alternative power station. I am exploring what hf
transceiver(s) to get and any adaptive hardware or software. I can see some
transceivers displaysnow but in low light I cannot do so well.
I am working with author Michael Burnette and Handihams to put his diagrams and
formulas from his books into tactile images and braiille. I am doing his Fast
Track to Your Technician/General License books. I am doing tecnician and
general. I will be putting the originals at Handihams. Both his books are in
electronic kindle text to speech and on audiobooks as well as print. This is a
volunteer project. I would be d be willing to share more copies once I find a
themoform machine that could be used.
I am also mentoring a totally blind potential technician so I am thinking of
his needs as well.
I am doing ACS/ARES certification in June.
I belong to West Sound ARC, Handihams and KCDEM/KCACS (emergency
ACS/RACES/ARES).
