For those who are concerned about setting up Eudora to work with the new
AT&T servers, here is information from Ray Campbell who runs the technology
help desk at the Chicago Lighthouse.
1. Open Eudora to your list of messages in the inbox. If it doesn't
come up when you open Eudora, hold down the control key and press 1 to get to
the inbox.
2. Hold down the alt key and press "t" to get to the tools menu.
3. Press "o" to get to the options menu.
4. You will be in a list of available categories. Up arrow or press
the letter "c" to get to the checking mail item.
5. Tab until you get to the edit field for your incoming mail
server. Type: "pop.att.yahoo.com" (without quotes). Press tab until you
get to a combo
box that says "Secure sockets when receiving." Arrow down until the combo
box says "Required, Alternate Port." Press tab until you get back to the
checking
mail item.
6. Arrow down to the sending mail item.
7. Press tab until you get to an edit field where you can type in your
SMTP server. Type: "smtp.att.yahoo.com" (without quotes). Press tab until
you get to a combo box that says "Secure sockets when sending." Arrow down
until the combo box says "required, alternate port." Tab until you get to
the OK button and press enter.
This changes your Eudora settings. The "Required, alternate port" settings
in the Secure Sockets when receiving and secure sockets when sending combo
boxes
automatically tell Eudora to retrieve mail using ports 995 and 465,
respectively.
