Yeah, I hate eSpeak, when I'm using Linux in an X64 system, I use Voxin, which
is the same as Eloquence.
But when I'm using Linux on ARM, I have to rely on eSpeak.
There is Stormux, which is Arch for the Raspberry PI, and it uses RH Voice,
which is almost as good as Voxin.
The eSpeak sort of reminds me of my old Artic Speech devices, which I liked
back in the day, but it didn't sound as bad as eSpeak though.
As briefly as I would have to hear eSpeak on the Roku, I could tolerate it.

I gotta admit, I'm cracking up at your comment about ESpeak being at least
intelligible. That's hillarious. I totally agree with you, actually. I really
can't stand ESpeak as far as you could throw it 10 miles and back, but compared
to whatever the God sent heck they used with Roku, it certainly wouldn't be
much better, but it would at least be something... so yeah, I totally hear ya.

I don't doubt you at all, when you talk about the speech being god awful
on the Roku. Believe you me, I feel your pain! This is exactly the reason why I
have said over and over and over again time and time again, I would never wish

I have put in other stuff so far into Roku, like my email address,
using the arrow keys and the okay to enter the character.
But I was trying to enter my eMail and password for my Netflix account,
and the keyboard layout is not straight forward like it was when registering
the Roku.
I cannot tell what many of the letters are by sound, the speech is so
bad.
The Roku needs to allow a keyboard to be paired with it for this stuff.
Just venting here, I spent an hour or more trying, and I'll have to get
some eyes for this.
