This does seem odd, but I thought I heard some tech news shows predicting that
this could become mainstream one day. I think it is getting to be with cable
that the small providers in small towns just want to get out of the renting
hardware business and the costs associated with it. I have heard that some are
only providing Internet now and no TV because of the ever-rising costs, and
people voluntarily cutting the cord. I have never heard of this particular app,
but the Fire Stick is a good platform as far as accessibility goes. I just wish
Spectrum would support it, as their Roku app isn't so hot, too much verbiage
and the like.

Hi All,
I am using cable TV services still, but my cable company told me that
within a year, they will no longer provide cable boxes for live TV,
they will give each customer an Amazon firestick, and they will need
to provide their own for additional TVs.
They will have the Sparklight app for devices for the customers and
for streaming their live TV.
We have two of their Tivo mini boxes and their main Tivo which drives
the minis and two regular simple cable boxes.
But as I mentioned, those will all be gone within a year and we will
be true cord cutters whether we want it or not.
So here's my question,
I'm wondering, because I have one main Tivo box and one Mini box that
I bought from eBay a couple years ago, but haven't used them because
we have been using the cable company's boxes.
I know Tivo has a subscription service, and I haven't looked into that
yet, but I'm wondering if anyone has used a Tivo without Tivo's
subscription service, or if it can be done, just subscribing to other
services through the Tivo.
Thanks.
