John, off-hand/off-top-of-head description would just be a relatively thin fillet/cut, then coated in a form of bread crumb batter, but anyway. And, think traditional sauces to combine with it would involve forms of sour cream, although I like the cheddamelt sauce variation. I don't remember coming across it when our family went to Israel, either. I guess I'm off to look up some recipes. Oh, was it delicious! It was beef, though, I'm sure. My mouth is watering for your tried-and-true recipes and experiences. Best, penny. who gets a tooth pulled on Thursday and is not anticipating milkshakes and mashed potatoes. But I can dream about the schnitzel to come later. As my friend said, sometimes a chicken schnitzel bought out can be amazingly good, but at other times, very disappointing. I'd love to hear about others recipes for this dish. Regards. Valerie
