I was given some oven mits which had a 6 inch wide peice of material between
them. they were supposed to cary casserole dishes.

Jacob, I cannot understand this. I have oven mitts of various lengths. I
may have bought them joined; but I don't leave them joined. I have one on each
hand, sometimes, giving me full range of motion with both arms. I have never
heard of them being used in a joined position. but this may just be my
inexperience.
