Liquid Measures:
The Imperial pint is larger than the U.S. pint, therefore, note the
following when measuring liquid ingredients:
U.S. 1 cup = 8 fluid oz
Imperial 1 cup = 10 fluid oz
U.S. 1/2 cup = 4 fluid oz
Imperial 1/2 cup = 5 fluid oz
U.S. 1 Tbsp = 3/4 fluid oz
Imperial 1 Tbsp = 1 fluid oz
U.S. 1 qt = 4 cups
Metric approx. = 950 ml
Imperial approx. = 1 and 1/2 pints + 4 Tbsp
U.S. 1 pint = 2 cups
Metric approx. = 450 ml
Imperial approx. = 3/4 pint
U.S. 1 cup:
Metric approx. = 236 ml
Imperial approx. = 1/4 pint + 6 Tbsp
U.S. 1 Tbsp:
Metric approx. = 15 ml
Imperial approx. = 1+ Tbsp
U.S. 1 tsp:
Metric approx. = 5 ml
Imperial approx. = 1 tsp
Dry Measures:
Outside the U.S., the following items are measured by weight. Use
the following table but bear in mind that measurements will vary
depending on the variety of flour and moisture. Cup measurements are
loosely packed. Flour is measured directly from package pre-sifted.
