Hello Liz, Thanks so much, nice to know a little more about spetzle, if you
can find the info. There is not that many of these gadgets to choose from
here in Aus, but the type you mentioned seems to be more preferred. My
family lived near to a German lady who made amazing spetzle, sweet and
savoury, so we had many a tasting of them and they were delicious. I have
sometimes made them using a colander, but it can get a bit messy.

Hi: I purchased a spaetzle maker at a kitchen shop some time ago; there are
nmany different recipes for it using different herbs and such. I don't know
about a machine but what I bought was sort of like a colander with a bar
type thing you pushed back and forth to push the dough through small holes
into your boiling water. I'll try and find my original recipe I tried.

I have never had no eaten spetzel, though one of my chefs back in
school said he would make it for us and never did. I can check some time
today to see if Cooks' Illustrated magazine has done a review of spetzel
machines, but my guess is they have not. I'm afraid you are on your own on
this one. But if you buy one of these machines and make them using it, I'd
love to hear how they turned out and if you'd recommend it to others.
