You're right.  As long as you leave the mail on the server, you could
probably do that.  It's just that if you're reading the mail in Outlook,
Eudora, Mutt, etc, you wouldn't be in the web interfact at Google where
you could apply the tags for categorizing and labeling.  Oh well, until
that area becomes more accessible perhaps this is a moot point <sigh>.
