I guess that with the way technology is going today, maybe people will be able to put more and more on those cards, or for anything anybody wants to burn information onto.

Oh, I guess I don't really know if it's the newest version, but if you have
firmware 1.03, you can utilize a 4-gig card. The only thing is that you run
up against a wall after 2 gigs of continuous recording (the thing shuts off,
and you have to press record again after your 2-gig limit. Who would want
to record a continuous file of more than 2 gigs ... I don't know, but
someone does, and they can tell you more about it, I'm sure. I would
imagine a quick email to Edirol would get you some help with updating your
firmware if you can't find 1.03. Yes, you can update the firmware ... it's
one of the options on the menu.

Hmm, I was under the impression the firmware on the R1 could not be
