How To Upgrade Iriver IFP899 Firmware to UMS 1.28 - Only Zip/Hex File

Hi,
I did a search on the archive of this list, and came across a link to a
.zip file used to upgrade the Iriver IFP899 to firmware UMS 1.28 I
believe. This firmware apparently lets you treat the Iriver as a drive
letter.
I downloaded the zip file, and extracted it. However, the extraction just
yields 1 .hex file.
I imagine you need some other utility to run the .hex file to update the
Iriver firmware.
Can someone advise on what the process is to update the Iriver, and where
you get any required additional utilities, etc.
Also is the ums 1.28 still the best one to use?
There was nothing in the archived post I found talking about additional
utilities that you might need :).
