Hi Vicky,

Well, now down to business! Your idea about asking list members for answers
has some merit, but on the other hand, if we go and put a faq out there for
public consumption, it needs to be as accurate as it can be. We could do
something on the web site having to do with testimonials which could act as a
platform for personal thoughts about techniques and experiences. I'm
interested in the links you mentioned, so at some point, no rush, send them
along.

I don't think there are any files at blind-diabetics on the yahoogroups site,
but I really don't know. I've never liked accessing the additional resources
on yahoogroups pages, and perhaps it is easier than I think it is. I do think
however that with putting any helpful links and email addresses in the footer
with the freelists list, accessing additional resources is as simple as pie.

Dave

sound terrific, Dave. Are there any files on the existing page for
blind-diabetics that we coule transfer or coppy to the new page you are making?
How bout we have the list come up with faq questions that would be answered
after chosen? That way you'd have peole at all levels of diabetic knowledg and
experience. Just a though. Be honest here too if I think of something not
quite right or downright dumb. I'll go through my diabetic links and share
some with you for the looking.

Hello to Ryan, Vicki, and Ruth,

Well, as I stated on the blind-diabetics list, I am proceeding to create a
new list for all of us, and I plan to go about it slowly. Although the
subscribing method with freelists is a tiny bit confusing (to some more than
others), in the end I think it may be a better place to be. One thing I really
like, actually 2 things, are: One, the footer (the information that appears at
the bottom of each message) is completely customizable, which means links and
email addresses can be put there that would be totally relevant to our group,
and second, we can have a web site, that like the footer, is completely
customizable. And, one additional positive thing is something that will help
us out initially, and that is that the moderator can add email addresses
manually to subscribe people. Now, although a little tedious, I don't
anticipate this to be too difficult since there aren't that many of us. If
people were okay with it, they could be added in less than 30 minutes and then
it would just be a matter of everyone making the adjustment in their address
book.

Now, I would love to have help in creating a couple of things that will
enhance our group. First, we can have a link to a faq (frequently asked
questions) file that would be in the footer, thus always accessible by just
tabbing to it and hitting enter. I don't have such a document at hand, but
perhaps someone has seen a good list of something like this somewhere. Or,
perhaps someone wouldn't mind doing a little googling to find one. Next, I
would like to have suggestions about what to put on the web page. These ideas
can be anything related to blindness and/or diabetes. In the mock page I
already have started, for instance, I have a link to the Prodigy site, along
with a couple other links. So, if you have ideas, or even the links, just pass
them along to me. Here's the link to the web page as it exists, but remember
this is really just a mock site and will be much improved in time:
    //www.freelists.org/webpage/blind_diabetics

Finally, please be completely (and brutally) honest with me as we move
toward making a switch. If you don't like something, chances are someone else
will not either. Thanks for your help.

    Dave
