Subject: NFB Offers Free Accessibility Boutiques

Greetings Subscribers,
The NFB with support from the Maryland Department on Disability
through a Non-Visual Access Initiative Grant, is pleased to offer
Accessibility Boutiques (introductions to accessibility) free of
charge and open to the public. The boutiques are held in person at the
National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute in Baltimore, and
bookings are done by contacting Ryan Pugh on (410) 659-9314, extension
2409. Or email rpugh@xxxxxxx.
On Tuesday May 23rd from 3 to 5 p m we are running a Boutique on
Braille Display support across mobile and desktop, a detailed look at
the strengths and weaknesses of Braille support in the major operating
systems. Including windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android.
On Thursday June 8th from 8 to 10 a m we will be covering wearables,
from fitness bands and apple watches to blindness specific items and
services such as the OrCam, Aira, Buzzclip and Sunu band. Discussing
their use and their usefulness.
On Saturday June 17th from 1:30 until 3:30 p m, we will be examining
gaming accessibility, from board games, card games and dice games, to
pc and phone games, to Dungeons and dragons style role play games. We
will dig into what is out there for blind consumers, and how blind
gamers can play games that are traditionally visual.
Space is limited, and will be first come first serve.
