I also prefer classic movies and TV to many of today's programming. Some
markets do offer OTA channels which offer classic TV, such as METV, Antenna TV
and others. Some markets offered a similar channel called Familynet but I've
been told they recently changed their format. While I haven't researched this
to verify if this is true, my guess is that people who prefer the classics are
usually the ones who grew up with it and perhaps that audience, as they get
older, doesn't constitute a large enough group to keep those channels going.
It's just a guess. As for Netflix, I'm also somewhat disenchanted with them.
While their amount of content containing video description is impressive, so
much of it contains profanity which I find offensive and which totally ruins
what otherwise could be a great movie or series. Sadly, most original
programming for adults, both from Netflix and Amazon, contains profanity.

offered any more, I am disappointed in Netflix and have thought of
discontinuing it.
I found a great movie on ota tv that I wish Cable would add, I think
it's just called Movies! It shows movies from the 40s through 70s I
think.
Since I wonder about copyright laws, I am thinking that is why there
aren't enough channels out there that show classic content.

Netflix
Offers video description. This, along with Amazon Prime, might not
necessarily work for some who want to replace cable or satellite since they
don't offer local channels or most other channels such as TCM, Discovery,

Youtube TV
You get a lot of channels but they offer absolutely no video description. In
spite of that I really like this service as you get unlimited DVR storage,
although I think your recorded content is only stored for nine months.
Still, that's remarkably generous.
Xfinity Instant TV
This is Comcast's streaming service, for people who don't want cable. It
offers video description on all content where it is available.
Britbox
This is a streaming service containing all British programming. I subscribe
to it via Amazon Prime and they seem to offer no video description. I don't
know if they offer it if you subscribe to them directly, as opposed to an
Amazon Prime Video addon channel but I doubt it.
Hulu
No video description although it sounds like there's some advocacy to get
them to add it.

I don't know how true this is but that is what I heard. I use a TIVO
with speech in it and can turn DVS off and on as I want.
That feature would be hard to give up if I cut the cord. Another
reason I don't is that I have tried various antennas here and they
don't work. I live on a property that has hundreds of trees, and it
makes for getting a signal really iffy.
Without cable and an antenna tv reception around here is almost non
existent, so I have to stick with Cable if I want to keep getting the
channels I do like and to retain audio description.
I am so glad the TiVo now has voice guidance in it.
