Miriam, free it may be but the DTB Player doesn't record notes. That is the
primary reason I bought the VR Stream, reading books in secondary.

Subject: [blind-democracy] one more thought about the stream and the NLS player
The most wonderful thing about the NLS player is that it is free. People have
computers which cost money, particularly with all of the specialized programs.
And if one is moving around in the world, one probably has a cell phone, which
costs money, and most probably a land line. And then people purchase
specialized devices. Most likely because I'm old, this contemporary life amazes
me. We used to have free radio, free TV, a phone, and a free talking book
machine. I read lists on which people compare the several devices they have for
reading books. I just wonder why one needs so many devices if the point is to
read a book. When was it that blind people became so financially well off?
