to put up with the native Samantha voice. I've also noticed another problem
with them. On one of the very long books after you have progressed to a
certain point in them it is a good idea to not press the 5 key to check your
progress. It will shut off without the double beep that usually signals its
turning off and when you get it back on it will have reverted to the point
where you started listening to it in the last listening session. That means
that when you are checking on your place in the book you will lose your
place. To prevent that from happening on one of those very long Bookshare
books you need to turn off the machine and then turn it back on before
pressing the 5 key. Right now I am reading an Open Library book entitled
Great Books of the Western World by Mortimer J. Adler. It has 1346 pages and
there is a lot packed on each page. To save myself the trouble I am not
checking my place until I start listening to it again. That is because if I
turn it off and turn it back on I will have to wait through twenty-two
statements of please wait before I can press the 5 key. By the way, I have
been reading that book for well over a month now and I am only about
forty-one percent through with it. That is definitely a long book.

I had a bookshare book that was so large, it gave the first generation
stream fits.so I put it on a cartridge to listen to on the DTBM. It still
takes a while to fire up, but at least it works.
