Every government is in business to stay in business. And so far as I
know, every government will "stretch the truth" in order to present a
better face to the people. In other words, lie.
On the morning of 9/11/01, I too was standing at the kitchen sink,
cleaning up after a late breakfast and whiling the time away while
listening to Howard Stern...I know, I know. Wash my mouth out with
soap. Stern suddenly went ballistic. As soon as the first plane
smashed into the towers Howard Stern was ready to declare war on just
about everybody. At first I thought it was a small private plane, and
then the second plane struck. As soon as I heard the name,
Afghanistan, I knew the dye was caste. Yes, it's true that a majority
of Americans were outraged and wanted vengeance. That's because we
all are served the same Kool-Ade. Of course spoon fed Americans are
going to react in the ways they are directed.
I was outraged, and so were most of my Progressive friends.
At roundup time this behavior is called a Stampede. I feel neither
ashamed nor proud of the fact that initially I joined in the rant.
After all, I drink from the same cup as most folks. But the longer I
listened to Stern and other celebrities trying to out outrage one
another, the more I came to believe that we were being set up...and
the setup was not coming from outside.
As I ranted, I began to think back to my reaction over Vietnam.
There was another toilet bowl full of lies, stirring up the Masses.
Eager young men rushing out to sign up to defend our Freedom. My not
yet brother-in-law, now 70 years old, is suffering from long term
Agent Orange spray. And in the moment I was screaming, "Bomb those
bastards!" I wonder how many innocent young American men, and how
many innocent Vietnamese died, and little children made into orphans
or cripples in order to "defend America's Freedom"? And I remember
seeing the Kool-ade cup being passed when we were on a vacation in
Hawaii back in 1987. Ollie North and Admiral Poindexter and Ronald
Reagan spoke solemnly of the danger in the Middle East and we all
stood and shouted, "Down with Kadoffi" And more people were
sacrificed.
I have no doubt that Donald Trump is fully capable of sacrificing
Americans if it appeared that such sacrifices would keep the nation's
power in it's current hands.
In fact, I believe he has already been doing so, setting the table for disaster.
My prediction, and I'm usually dead wrong, is that Joe Biden will win
the election, and our nation has been so fractured and our laws have
been so fractured, and our People have been so divided, that we are
living in the end days of democracy.
But the election could go the other way, with Donald Trump being
returned to Office, and our nation has been so fractured and our laws
