Dear Mark,
I’m trying to show you things that could help in “making the prosecuter” to do
the right thing on Wednesday.
For example this is from a story about gun rights activists and a protest, with
firearms on the very place we were trying to enter…
A quote from the article here:
“LANSING, MI — Between 400 and 500 Second Amendment advocates and gun owners —
many with rifles, pistols and shotguns strapped to their bodies — rallied
Wednesday at the Michigan Capitol.
The rally, called the Second Amendment March, took place all morning on the
Capitol lawn in Lansing. Many of the supporters came to raise awareness on gun
ownership issues and what they consider infringement on their rights by the
government.”
Now, this clearly shows that protests can be held on the Capitol Lawn and that
includes in this case the carrying of firearms. Yet, 20 people with disabilities
including me were detained by the Michigan State Police and told “unlawfully”
not to go beyond the Austin Blair Statue and they even erected a barrier.
And this was to enter our Statewide ADA Celebration. The MSP in court filings
in my arrest and in utubes and other documents only sighted “safety concerns”
over our violation of our rights. Yet, what were those safety concerns? We had
no weapons like these “protestors” we only had leaflets and signs and their
was no right to detain us and violate our rights under the ADA or the First
Amendment to this very same area.
Moreover, as this quote shows these gun rights advocates even took firearms in
to the Capitol itself:
“Some protesters milled about inside the Capitol with rifles slung around their
shoulders. At the same time, Gov. Rick Snyder toured agricultural booths
“
Now, if this isn’t disposetory and completely embarrassing to those prosecuting
a sixty three year old blind man from enterring his own civil rights event
and being arrested for it I don’t know what is.
So Mark please show this type of thing to the prosecuter on Wednesday.
