And as I mentioned before, two of those five richest men(white men)
live right here in the greater Seattle area. And I suspect that Star
Buck's CEO can afford to dine at the private clubs with them, too.
It's a good example of how well the Trump Trickle Down approach to
Life is working. With Boeing finally having serious competition for
control over the citizens, we might expect to see a higher standard of
living among the Working Class. That, by the way is sarcasm.
I recall my grade school history pointing to the downfall of the Roman
Empire. One major factor was that the small independent businesses
and farmers were gobbled up by bigger ones, and then by bigger. And
the Romans did not want to be involved in defending their
Empire...probably because it was no longer "theirs", and mercenaries
were hired to do their dirty work. Sure, they didn't have the
technology to sit safe at home and push buttons and watch drones blow
the Hell out of towns far across the globe, but in fact, that is only
a small part of our Empire's efforts to control the entire planet. We
are now in the mode of hiring others to do our dirty work. Saudi
Arabia stands as just one example, and Israel is another. Just two of
many. But just so long as our Corporations are hauling in the
dollars, we will continue down this road, Hell bent for election.
Amazon will gobble up Whole Foods and then one fine day they will send
drones out to your door with your "on-line" grocery order, and
hundreds and thousands of clerks will join the ranks of the forgotten
unemployed. Drones will arrive at our doors, thanks to Huber or Lift
and their advanced Taxi Services, putting more working class folk in
the bread lines. Even government business will be handled by robots.
In fact, I think they are already doing this. At least it seems so,
when calling for information I am routed from automated voice to
automated voice without ever hearing a live person. Once we did
connect to a real woman. She said, "Please hold", even before we
spoke, we were put on the "good music" line. We waited 15
minutes...we waited another 15 minutes. Suddenly the "music" went
away and the phone disconnected.
We are truly in amazing times! Years ago a Seattle judge was quoted
as telling a plaintive who charged a neighbor man of raping her on
what we call "date rape". The judge said, "Just lay back and enjoy
it". Well, that's what I feel our American Corporate Empire is
telling us all.
Incidentally, that remark along with the good judge's comment to an
American Chinese attorney, who could not find his paperwork, "No
tickee, no laundly!" angered voters enough that they voted him out of
office. We might consider doing the same with most of our elected
Drones.

I'm reading a futuristic book on BARD called New York 2140, a satire of who
we are now, of our financial markets, and a picture of where we might be
given our lack of meaningful activity regarding global warming. The person
who recommended it on DB Review, didn't realize that there was satire in
it.
At any rate, Amazon should have been included, although so far, it isn't in
the part of the book I'm reading. Its owner is one of the 5 richest men in
the world.
