Let’s see. An email list comprised of just a few people filled with
ignorance, bigotry, and Marxist anti-American garbage. Uh, yeah, I think
I’ll pass.

Maybe so.
God did send a Hell of a message when He smote Sodom and Gomorrah.  But God
was not above using anything at hand.  Like grasshoppers, floods,
earthquakes, and the Black Plague.
I often wonder if God wasn't just a little disappointed in His Son.
Jesus was much gentler than His Old Man.
But then, I'm still trying to figure Mary out.  She claims to be the mother
of Jesus, but also the Mother of God.  Sounds kinky to me.

Where we live the weather has been cooler and damper than in other
parts of the state and the Pacific Coast.  We had an early Spring with
the promise of hot weather to follow.  Instead we had a cool, damp
couple of months.  But now, as Summer winds down, we've had several
days of clear, dry weather with temperatures ranging from the low 80's
to the low 90's, along with low humidity.  In weather like that it
doesn't take long for the ground cover to dry out.  But in spite of
the state-wide ban on logging, I could hear the chain saws in the
distance, like a swarm of angry mosquitoes.  If they start up again
today, we'll report that there appears to be illegal activity in or near
the National Forest.
Meanwhile we will keep the horses in our neighbor's large pasture.
They'll be safer there than in our smaller 3 acre pasture.  Also, a
bit later this morning, I plan to call four neighboring families and
make certain we spread the word if there are any warnings to evacuate.
I just stepped outside and found the air has the smell and taste of a
camp fire.  And as I said, that is without any wildfires nearby.
I turned on Thom Hartmann this morning.  A local station plays his
program from the day before, so Thom was remarking on yesterday's air
quality.  He lives in Portland, and said the Sun looked like an orange
ball.  Again, Portland is at the upper edge of Oregon, on the Columbia
river, and most of the fires are burning well South of the city.  We
live a good 180 plus miles North of Portland, with only a scattering
of small fires between here and there.  And still the air stinks.  In
fact, yesterday's air quality in Portland was reported to be the worst air
quality on the planet.

No fires, but I can taste the smoke, and it smells a bit like the
inside of a cigarette butt.  The state has shut down all logging and
all burning.
Still, if fire breaks out we will lose just about everything.  But as
far as I know, the entire Olympic Peninsula is free of any fires.  I
worry more about the Central Washington where my daughter and her
husband live.  Jen works out of her home at the moment, but still has
to make daily runs into the Central University's business office.
Jen has Rheumatoid Arthritis and she is also diabetic.  Don, her
husband has Parkinson's, and can no longer drive.
It was a clear hot day yesterday and today, with the same forecast
for the next several days.
Our access road is nearly a quarter of a mile long, but when we reach
Snow Creek Road we can go several  directions, depending on where
fire might be blocking escape.
