I was listening to a report about how very dry it has been in areas of
California for a long period of time which is why fires start so easily. Has it
been very dry with no rain where you live, for a long time?

No fires, but I can taste the smoke, and it smells a bit like the inside of a
cigarette butt. The state has shut down all logging and all burning. Still,
if fire breaks out we will lose just about everything. But as far as I know,
the entire Olympic Peninsula is free of any fires. I worry more about the
Central Washington where my daughter and her husband live. Jen works out of
her home at the moment, but still has to make daily runs into the Central
University's business office. Jen has Rheumatoid Arthritis and she is also
diabetic. Don, her husband has Parkinson's, and can no longer drive.
It was a clear hot day yesterday and today, with the same forecast for the next
several days.
Our access road is nearly a quarter of a mile long, but when we reach Snow
Creek Road we can go several directions, depending on where fire might be
blocking escape.

Are there fires anywhere near you now?
