Subject: [blind-democracy] comment
I can tell all of you who have never lived anywhere else but in the USA that
all the things the right and even a certain factions of the left want you to
believe about “elsewhere” is a load of crap.
Think Cuba…what fairy tales, to use Carl’s favorite term, although usually
applied otherwise, have we been fed?
Hillary’s snarky comment, “We ar enot Denmark.”
Anyone read the comments of the Finn who has lived both in Finland and here
in the US?
Or the similar article about Iceland?
These are not empty, “scholarly” articles, these are real life experiences,
observations of people who have seen both sides.
I liken this whole dichotomy to music…what else?
Most of the diction manuals used in music schools have been written by Madame
Plushbottom who has never set foot outside of East Buttfuck nowheresville
midwest.
My pedagogical and musical advice? If you want to know how to sing German,
listen to the great German singers singing German, their native language. News
flash, they’ve never heard of the dreaded schwa promoted by Madam Plushbottom
of East Armpit USA.
Do the European social democracies have their own set of problems? You bet
they do.
But much as Eastern Europe stood at a crossroads that offered a unique
historical opportunity to forge something new, so do we, the US…we can forge a
synthesis that takes the best of both worlds and perhaps creates something new,
hopefully some hing better than Communism, than capitalism, than socialism,
than any ism at all…
I must say, I’m astonished after a rather prolonged absence from this list to
read the dismissive, even denigrating remarks about Bernie Sanders,
particularly from those who have been relatively close to his sphere,
geographically at least, for a while now.
I swear, I think we Americans delight in finding fault, picking apart,
dismantling…
And, IMO, Bernie Sanders is not, repeat, NOT, the lesser of two evils, not
the lesser of anything...
